A place to write short messages about my personal relationship with God. A place to write my 'little piece' of the big puzzle - in hopes other bloggers will be encouraged to write their 'little piece' as well.

RUNNING ON EMPTY
As proof text, I will use this passage: 1 John 4:7-10
7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Many people might begin a teaching on love by talking about the description of love in I Cor. 13, also known as the love chapter. I'm thinking 1 John is the LOVE BOOK. It speaks not only of how we are to love one another, but that, clearly, LOVE COMES FROM GOD. It's not a feeling we can cook up on a date. Love is a commitment. A commitment that knows no bounds....even death.
We benefit from this great love of God because of the obedient death of His Son, Jesus, that our Heavenly Father sent, in a vunerable flesh package, to pay the price for our sins. Until we receive our Savior and His love, we cannot possibly share love with anyone.
The Word says love comes from God and that everyone who has been born of God knows God (or love).
You CANNOT POSSIBLY GIVE WHAT YOU DON'T HAVE. If you are low on gas....what do you do? You fill up your car at the closest source....the gas station. If you are low on love....you need to fill up at the closest source as well.........GOD! Don't expect your spouse, your friends or your family to fill that void up. It's reserved ONLY for God - so that you will seek only Him for that love need you cannot live without.
God is ALWAYS FIRST. NOT YOU! He loved you FIRST and that is the only way you are capable of loving Him as well. So, go to the Source.......and fill your empty soul.
